Description |
Rich in farm and ranchland, Little Bow is a large rural riding in south-central Alberta. The Oldman and Bow Rivers form much of the east boundary. In the 2004 redistribution the boundary was expanded north to include the Siksika First Nation. Other communities include Vulcan, Vauxhall, Coalhurst and Picture Butte.
Agriculture is by far the biggest industry in Little Bow, with retail a distant second. Household incomes are below the Alberta average at $52,629, but the number of people considered low income is also under the norm at 8.5 per cent. Almost one in 10 residents is an immigrant, which is high for a rural riding, while just over one in 10 is aboriginal. More than 12 per cent of Little Bow residents say they're of German origin.
