Senado Federal
The Senate of Brazil is modeled after the American Senate. There are 81 seats total with three members representing each state and the federal district. They are elected by a simple majority vote by constituent districts. A single senate term is eight years. One-third of the Senate is elected after a four-year period. Two-thirds are elected after the next four-year period. |
