DescriptionThe State Senate is elected by districts.

The state senate was created in the Constitution of 1776.

From 1777 until 1835, each county elected one Senator annually.
Beginning with 1836, the state was carved into 50 Senate districts with a
two-year term. Counties were not divided in the creation of districts until 1982.

All district races have been entered for 1812-1852
