687-seat legislative body of the unicameral Parliament of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). Members are elected to five-year terms and are nominated by the "parties" of the state, which include the Democratic Front for the Reunification of Korea, DFRK (the DFRK holds 687 of the 687 seats in the Assembly).
The Supreme People's Assembly ostensibly "elects" through a Presidium the Chairman of the National Defence Commission, which is the state's Supreme Leader.
