Info | Rep. Lloyd Daniel, a Democrat, represents part of Jackson County (District 42) in the Missouri House of Representatives.
In addition to his legislative duties, Rep. Daniel is an educator, poet and social activist.
Rep. Daniel worked as a community development specialist and teacher with the following organizations: the Genesis School in Kansas City from 1985 to 1994; the Community Development Corporation in Kansas City from 1993 to 1994, and the Urban Bush Women Performance Company of New York City.
Rep. Daniel held the position of instructor in the Departments of Education and Social Sciences at the University of Missouri at Kansas City from 1983 to 1994 and at Penn Valley Community College from 1982 to 1991. In addition, Rep. Daniel served as a professor with the National In-Service Teacher Education Program of Grenada, West Indies, from 1981 to 1982.
From 1979-1980, he worked as a host/producer with Kansas City-based MT Productions and appeared weekly on KCPT Channel 19, a national public television affiliate. He has also produced and hosted both commercial and public radio programs.
Rep. Daniel is a former director of the Midwestern Free School where he wrote, produced and directed the multi-media productions: "Behind the Plastic Curtain," "Just Like After the Civil War," "For the People of the Sun," and "Radio Free Arts." Additionally, he has authored two books of poems and essays, "Radio Free America" and "Objective Reality," both published on Undercurrent Press.
Named as a Jesse Jackson delegate at the 1984 Democratic National Convention, Rep. Daniel has been selected as a member of the Board of International Editors of the Grenada Union of Writers and Artists.
A 1970 graduate of Paseo High School, Rep. Daniel holds a bachelor of science degree in Elementary Education from the University of Kansas and a graduate degree in Adult Educational Theory from the University of Connecticut.
