Byron Edgar Peart Prugh was born in Rural Valley, Armstrong County, son of James H. and Esther E. (Peart) Prugh.

Chairman of Pennsylvania Prohibition Party 1913-1930
Chairman of Prohibition National Committee 1924-1926; represented PA on the PNC 1916-1932

Editor of The Index, a temperance newsletter in Harrisburg, 1929-1941.
Died in Harrisburg Hospital, 4/28/1941. His mother survived him, as did his widow Ada (Marshall) Prugh. Buried in Greensburg PA.
