| Info | As a young adult, Rob spent summers working on a tomato farm, a cannery, and a fishing boat, gaining valuable knowledge and experience in what makes the Neck's economy work.
He met his wife Kathryn during one of the summers on the Northern Neck, and the couple have two children, a daughter Devon, 23, and a son Josh, a senior in high school. The family home is in Montross.
Wittman is well educated and knowledgeable in both environmental issues and in public administration. He has a Bachelor's degree in biology from Virginia Tech, a Master's degree in public health from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, and a Ph.D in public policy and administration from VCU.
Not just an academic, Rob has hands-on experience in public policy. He worked for many years as an environmental health specialist for local health departments in the Northern Neck and the Middle Peninsula. He presently works for the Commonwealth of Virginia as Director of Field Operations, Division of Shellfish Sanitation.
His career in public service began in 1986 when he was elected a member of the Montross Town Council, a position he occupied for ten years, with four years spent as Mayor of Montross. Following that the people of Westmoreland County elected him to the Board of Supervisors, where he has served for nine years. He is currently Chairman of the Board of Supervisors.
