Info | Jim Glenn was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He learned the values of hard work and fair play from his father, James, Sr., a Chicago policeman, and his perseverance and keen business eye from his mother, Betty, who worked in retail sales.
A proud product of public schools, Jim became the first person in his family to attend college. As a football player and track athlete at the Wisconsin State University-Superior, Jim learned the value and importance of teamwork and team spirit. Jim graduated with a degree in Business Management in 1971. Committed to the concept of life-long learning, Jim went on to earn a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 1974 and a Doctorate in Higher Education from the University of Kentucky in 2001.
Before coming to Kentucky, Jim worked in industry and accrued an impressive record of achievements, including handling $45 million in sales and graduating Cum Laude from the Borden School of Graphic Art. Because of his expertise, Jim was invited to serve as a guest lecturer and part-time instructor at local colleges.
In 1988, Jim Glenn moved to Owensboro, Kentucky, to pursue his passion for teaching. It was then that he and his family developed their love for Kentucky and became Kentuckians.
Along with being an Associate Professor of Business at Owensboro Community College, in 1993 Jim was called up to serve as Interim Business Dean for Owensboro Community College, where he managed an $8 million budget.
In the community, Jim Glenn has been a consultant for area small businesses and conducted numerous financial workshops. He has served community organizations, such as the Daviess County Cooperative Extension Services [4-H], H.L. Neblett Community Center and League of Women Voters.
Jim Glenn and his wife, Cornelia, a Professor of Teacher Education, have been married for 30 years. They have two children, Kimberly, a mechanical engineer, and Jimmy, a senior majoring in Civil Engineering, at the University of Kentucky.
