Senator Gerard received a Bachelors Degree from Drake University in Iowa and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Arizona State University. She served six terms as a State Representative, and began her first term as a State Senator in 2001. She is the Chair of the Health Committee and a member of the Government and the Banking and Insurance Committees.
Mrs. Gerard is a member of the Fleming Fellows Board, National Forum for State Health Policy Leadership, the Arizona Academy Town Hall, the City of Phoenix AIDS Task Force, the CDC Public Health Advisory Board, and is a member of the Marcus House Board. She is a nationally recognized expert in the field of state health care programs and has received dozens of awards including everything from the Burton Barr Award for Legislative Excellence from the Professional Fire Fighters of Arizona to the Freedom of Information award from the Arizona Newspaper Association.
