Info | Assemblywoman McHose was selected by the Republican county committee members from Sussex, Morris and Hunterdon Counties to fill the remainder of Congressman Scott Garrett?s term in the New Jersey Assembly. She then went on to win the primary election on June 3, 2003. Alison is the first woman to serve the 24th District and the youngest woman in the legislature. She is also part of the first father-daughter team to serve simultaneously in the New Jersey Legislature.
Alison L. McHose was a legislative aide in Senator Robert E. Littell?s district office in Franklin for over seven years. Her duties included budget issues, constituent casework and press releases. Prior to this position, she worked for two years as a Policy Council Director in Education & Healthcare for a grassroots outreach organization in Washington, D.C. She worked for four years as a political appointee in the first Bush Administration at both the National Endowment for the Humanities, working directly for Chairman Lynne V. Cheney, and the U.S. Department of the Treasury, under Secretary Nicholas Brady. As a sophomore in college, Alison worked as an intern on Capital Hill for six months and for Harvard University?s Washington Government Affairs Office. She was also course librarian at the University of Maryland?s Distance Learning Center.
Born in Sussex County, Alison graduated from Immaculate Conception Regional School in Franklin, and Pope John XXIII High School in Sparta. She attended Simmons College in Boston, and graduated from the University of Maryland at College Park with a B.S. in Government and Politics with a minor in Economics.
Alison and her husband Morgan have been married for ten years, and live in Andover Township. They have two sons Logan and Grant. Alison is active in community and volunteer service. She is a member of the Franklin Economic Development Committee, having served as both Vice-Chairman and Chairman. She is a founding member of the Franklin Historical Society; an eleven-year member of the Junior Leagues of Washington and Morristown; and a member of the Wallkill Valley Rotary Cub. Alison is also a member of the Birth Haven Advisory Committee, the Capital Campaign for the Sussex County YMCA and an Advisory Board Member of the Sussex County Office on Aging; and was appointed by the Sussex County Board of Freeholders to the Sussex County 250th Anniversary Committee.
