Info1988 candidate for delegate to the National Democratic Convention.

Tom Hampton was born in Baltimore in December, 1953 and was raised in the Severna Park neighborhood of Anne Arundel County. He has been an Anne Arundel County resident almost all his life, with 42 of his years in Severna Park. Tom also lived, for almost a year, in Salisbury on the Eastern Shore where he began his accounting career. Tom’s father found some property on the Magothy River in 1948 and left South Baltimore shortly thereafter to build his new home. The Hampton family lives there still in 2005. Tom attended St. John the Evangelist Catholic School and then Severna Park Junior and Senior High School. He received an A.A. degree from Anne Arundel Community College and a Bachelors Degree from the University of Baltimore. He has worked within the Accounting profession for more than 25 years and has served for more than 10 years in positions as a Corporate Controller.

Tom has worked in the Baltimore-Annapolis area most of his life, in various Accounting related positions. He also worked for 3 years in Prince Frederick, Calvert County. Early in his career, he spent a couple of years with the public accounting firm of KPMG International doing audit and tax work. Entering the corporate environment, he worked for several petroleum companies, including Crown Central Petroleum, Eastern Petroleum and The Gott Company. Most recently Tom has been employed as Corporate Controller at PACE, Incorporated, a manufacturing company in Annapolis Junction. During his college days, Tom worked at Goska’s Liquors in Severna Park and in the early 1980’s, he also co-owned and operated the Severna Park Garden Center.

Tom's past includes a childhood shaped by the Cold War tensions and turmoil of the 60’s, but mixed with a Tom Sawyer like existence in many ways. Growing up on a river teeming with fish, crabs and a variety of other life, Tom’s perspective on Maryland life, while not unique, is closely tied to the “good ole days” of the Bay.
