InfoI WAS born in 1949 in Woodford and brought up in Walthamstow and Leyton.

After schooling at McEntee, I graduated from Queen Mary College, London University, in electrical engineering.

After a period teaching at a further education college and at London Fire Brigade HQ, I trained in the City as a chartered accountant, subsequently lecturing in tax and law and practising in the London Insurance Market.

For the past 20 years I have run a small business in Islington.

I married Sally, a teacher, in 1978 and we moved to Loughton from Snakes Lane in 1983. We have a daughter of 23 and a son of 20, both born in Whipps Cross University Hospital where I worked as a hospital porter alongside my father in 1970.

Outlook

IN the referendum of 1975, I voted to stay in the European Economic Community, not realising that we were being lied to and that the "common market" was just a step towards an EU Superstate, which will surely follow from the new EU Constitution.

I want to be ruled from Westminster by elected MPs whom we can remove, not by unelected Brussels bureaucrats who even dictate our immigration policy and strangle our businesses with incessant regulation making.

I wish to leave the EU and spend the billions saved on the NHS, schools and pensioners.

I want our country back.
