| Info | Shahrar Ali is the Green parlimentary candidate for Brent East
Dr Shahrar Ali is a part-time lecturer in philosophy and applied ethics.
His PhD from UCL developed "A Theory of Intentional Deception and Lying", with examples from political life including the UK government's illicit use of a PhD thesis.
Shahrar believes that the Green Party enjoins the only political philosophy that can transform society for the common good and maintain environment. In Brent, he mounted a campaign to save a historic school building from demolition by Lord Foster and the council.
Shahrar has worked in the STOA Unit of the European Parliament in Luxembourg to assess the risk to the environment from GMOs. In 2003, he co-authored a Green Party submission to the UK government's GM science review.
Shahrar has been outspoken in public to end Guantanamo injustice. He is also interested in GM and the EU constitution.
Shahrar took an active role in the recent Brent-East by-election campaign.
