InfoPerry served in the Georgia state Senate from 1993-96 as the first Republican elected to his district (Carroll, Douglas Counties). He served on the Appropriations, Transportation, Special Judiciary, Higher Education, Science and Technology committees. He left the Senate in order to commit more time to his very young family.

Perry served as corporate counsel for Chik-fil-A from 1996-2004, when he and his family made the decision to run for Georgia Secretary of State. Perry believes his business experience and conservative Senate service give him the perfect background for Secretary of State. Fresh, businesslike perspective, bold ideas, conservative values . . .

* Founding steering committee member for the new Georgia Restaurant Association; board member, National Council of Chain Restaurants; National Restaurant Association.
* Perry comes from five generations of Georgians. He graduated from Mitchell County High School, Valdosta State University and Georgia State College of Law.
* Community service on the boards of Inner Harbour Hospital and the Jesse Draper Boys and Girls Club.
* Perry, his wife, Lauren, and their four children are members of First Baptist Church of Douglasville, where he teaches Sunday School.
