Info | Civil engineer.
I was born in 1962 in the working class neighborhood of Price Hill in suburban Cincinnati. My father was a plumber, my mother a secretary who left work to raise my younger brother and me. I grew up in the house where my parents still live. I am the product of a parochial school education. I attended grade school at St. Teresa of Avila followed by Elder High School.
After high school, it was on to college. Growing up as my dad’s plumber’s helper, I discovered the value of hard work. I stumbled for a while in college looking for my field, but considering my father’s father was a Pullman conductor and my mother’s father worked with barges on the Ohio River, I guess I was destined for a job in transportation. In 1986 I earned my Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Cincinnati. In 1990 I obtained my registration as a professional engineer.
For nearly 20 years I have worked as a transportation engineer in both the public and private sector. I am very proud of the contributions I have made as an engineer. The most satisfying part of being an engineer is the “concrete” contribution you make to peoples lives.
Two years ago I put my career on the back burner to take over at home for my wife caring for our young son.
I am currently living with my wife, son and two teenage stepdaughters in Anderson Township in western Hamilton County.
