InfoElected to the Commons after a particularly vicious factional struggle and formerly on the Hard Left of the Labour Party (hostile newspapers nicknamed her 'Red Dawn' and she once called on the Soviet Union to rehabilitate Trotsky), Primarolo's views became significantly more moderate during the 1990s and she served as a member of the Blair and Brown governments and was noted for her loyalty to the latter. She is currently the Second Deputy Chairman of Ways and Means.

Member of Parliament for Bristol South 1987-present. Financial Secretary to the Treasury 1997-1999, Paymaster General 1999-2007, Minister of State for Public Health 2007-2009, Minister of State for Children, Young People and Families 2009-2010, Second Deputy Chairman of Ways and Means 2010-present.
