Info | Raj Chouhan has been has been standing up for average British Columbians for 30 years as an advocate for BC workers and for racial equality.
He was the founding president of the Canadian Farmworkers' Union and is a Director of the Hospital Employees Union. Chouhan is currently a member of the Labour Relations Board of BC and the Arbitration Bureau of BC.
Chouhan's concern for the average worker is exemplified by his work in improving the conditions of BC workplaces. In the 1990s, Chouhan was an advisor to the Workers' Compensation Board's drafting of health and safety regulations in the BC agricultural industry. He also served as a board member to the Farm and Ranch Safety and Health Association.
A founding member of the BC Organization to Fight Racism, Raj has worked relentlessly in promoting human rights and racial equality. He is currently the Vice President of BC Human Rights Defenders.
Raj Chouhan also promotes this work in other areas. He has taught courses on Human Rights, the BC Labour Code and collective bargaining since 1987 and is frequently invited as a panelist on radio and television programs.
With his wife Inder, he has two children, Amrita and Anu, and sits as the Vice-President of the Parents' Advisory Council at their school.
