Info | Peter Flaherty is of counsel to Woodruff & Flaherty. A native of Pittsburgh and veteran of World War II, Peter Flaherty is well known for being the former mayor of Pittsburgh.
Graduating from North Allegheny High School, Mr. Flaherty then entered World War II, where he flew 100 missions over Japan. After World War II, and under the GI Bill, Mr. Flaherty was directly admitted to Notre Dame Law School, where he successfully earned his Juris Doctor degree.
Mr. Flaherty served as an Assistant District Attorney until 1964.
Served on the Pittsburgh City council, 1966-68. He then went on to lead a successful political career. In 1969 he ran for and was elected Mayor of Pittsburgh, a position which he held until 1977.
Immediately after serving as Mayor of Pittsburgh, Mr. Flaherty served as Deputy Attorney General under President Carter. In 1980, Mr. Flaherty ran for county commissioner and succeeded for four terms before he retired. Mr. Flaherty currently resides in the Mt. Lebanon area of Pittsburgh with his wife, Charlene.
