InfoCouncilman Anthony Como represents the 30th Council District. He was elected on June 5th, 2008 in a special election. He is known in the community as an honest hardworking individual who cares about his community and its residents.

Anthony Como was born on April 22, 1974, in Wyckoff Heights Hospital, New York City. Within a few months of his birth, his family moved to Ridgewood, Queens. He attended Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal School, where he graduated in 1988, and attended Christ the King Regional High School. After graduating high school in 1992, Como attended Queens College where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree. Mr. Como then attended Hofstra University School of Law where he received his J.D. degree and was admitted to the New York State Bar in October of 2001.

While attending college, Como interned for New York State Senator Serphin R. Maltese, from the 15th Senate District, in Queens County New York City. When his internship ended, Senator Maltese offered him a position on his staff as Community Representative. He worked full-time while attending law school and was eventually promoted to the role of the Senator's Executive Assistant. After years of dedicated service, Senator Serphin R. Maltese appointed Como as his Chief Counsel and assisted the Senator in every aspect of his representation of the New York State 15th Senate District.

After graduating law school Anthony Como was hired by the Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown, as an Assistant District Attorney. He was awarded the 11th Annual Hal Miller Weinstein Memorial Award by the District Attorney. This award is given to first year Assistant District Attorneys who posses an overwhelming dedication and enthusiasm for public service. Anthony Como was promoted to the Homicide Investigations Bureau, where he investigated countless homicides many leading to arrests and successful prosecution of criminals. Anthony Como was again promoted and assigned to the Queens District Attorney's Kew Gardens II, Supreme Court Trial Bureau, where he prosecuted all types of felony offenses.

Anthony Como was appointed and served as the Commissioner for the Queens County Board of Elections. In January 2007 in only his second year as Commissioner, he was unanimously elected to serve as the President of the New York City Board of Elections. Shortly before filing as a candidate for City Council, he stepped down from his position as Commissioner.

He has been recognized by various organizations for his dedication to the community. Como is proud to have been awarded the Distinguished Leadership Award by the Federazione Italo-Americana of Brooklyn and Queens for his tireless efforts in promoting and defending the Italian American heritage. He was also honored by The American Legion Continental Post Number 1424 with their Certificate of Appreciation award for his outstanding service and assistance which contributed to the advancement of the American Legion.

After five wonderful years of dating his girlfriend, Miss. Tiziana Mazzaferro, they were recently married on April 14, 2007. Tiziana received her Bachelor of Arts and Masters Degree, in School Psychology, at the same time, from Saint John's University. She currently works as a public school Psychologist, where she helps young children with disabilities.

As a life long Queens resident, he currently resides with his wife in Middle Village, Queens. His parents, Joseph and Rosaria Como, and brother, Salvatore Como also reside in Middle Village. His sister, Rosa Troia, resides in Manhasset, Long Island, with her husband John Troia, and their three beautiful boys, Erasmo, Nicholas, and Michael Troia.
