A Delaware County Lawyer and lifelong resident of the City of Chester, Pileggi was appointed Mayor in June 1998 and elected to a four-year term in November 1999. Prior to his appointment, Pileggi served as a Director of the Chester-UplandSchool District and as City Councilman, where he was Director of Public Safety from 1994 to 1996 and Director of Finance from 1996 to 1998.
Pileggi was the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship at St. JosephUniversity, where he received an A.B. degree in Economics. He received a law degree from the Villanova School of Law, where he was a member of the Moot Court Board. He is a partner in the law firm of Pileggi & Pileggi.
Pileggi has served on the J. Lewis Crozer Library Board of Directors since 1989, and is now Board President. He is a Member of the Chester Salvation Army Board of Advisors and the Delaware County Industrial Development Corporation Board of Directors, and is a Member and past President of the Rotary Club of Chester. He is a longtime member of the Republican Party of Chester, where he currently serves as Chairman of the Executive Committee.
He has received such honors as, Rotarian of the Year 1995 (Chester); Chester Business and Professional Association Man of the Year 1997; Christopher Columbus Association Person of the Year 1998; Prince Hall Masonic Lodge (#58) Civic Achievement Award 2001; T.M. Thomas Achievement Award 2001; and the Reverend Jesse F. Anderson Award 2002. He had the support of the Pennsylvania State Chamber of Business and Industry PAC in his first election to the State Senate.
He began in the Senate by winning a special election to the Pennsylvania Senate in October 2002, filling the seat of the late Senator Clarence D. Bell.
