Info | a Representative from North Carolina; born in Conway, Mass., August 16, 1796; attended the common schools; served in the War of 1812; was graduated from Union College, Schenectady, N.Y., in 1821; moved to Stokes County, N.C., in 1822; taught school for several years; studied law; was admitted to the bar and practiced; member of the State house of commons in 1838 and 1840; moved to Salisbury, N.C., in 1842 and continued the practice of law; served in the State senate in 1844.
