Info | Nancy Calhoun was born in Suffern, New York. She represents the 96th Assembly District, which includes parts of Rockland and Orange Counties.
Ms. Calhoun is a graduate of Clarkstown High School, where she was a New York State Regents Scholarship recipient, a National Merit Semi-Finalist and a National Honor Society member. She attended Empire State College, where she majored in Public Administration and Business Administration.
Prior to her November 1990 election to the New York state Assembly, Assemblywoman Calhoun was Supervisor of the Town of Blooming Grove (1986-1990), Councilwoman-Town of Blooming Grove (1982-1985), Blooming Grove Assessors Clerk (1978-1981), and Washingtonville Central School District Tax Collector (1976-1984). She has served as: President of the Orange County Supervisors and Mayors Association (1988-1989); Orange County Community Development Advisory Board Member (1987-1989); Orange Municipal Planning Federation Director; member of Orange County Solid Waste Citizens (1987-1989); Orange Municipal Planning Federation Director; member of Orange County Solid Waste Citizens Advisory Committee; Orange County Sewerage Advisory Board, Moodna Basin Sewerage Advisory Board; Arden Hill Hospital Auxiliary Bookkeeper (1972-1990); Honorary member Monell Engine Co.; 1988 Citizen of the Year; former member Blooming Grove Volunteer Ambulance Corps; Blooming Grove Chamber of Commerce and Eastern Orange Chamber of Commerce.
Assemblywoman Calhoun is executive member of the Women�s Legislative Caucus, secretary to the American-Irish Legislators Society, Assembly Minority Leader Nesbitt�s representative on the Hudson River Valley Greenway Council and Executive member of the National Coalition of Insurance Legislators. Calhoun previously served as Assistant Minority Whip and Secretary to the Minority Conference.
