Info | YORK, Tyre, a Representative from North Carolina; born in Rockford, Surry County, N.C., May 4, 1836; attended the common schools; studied medicine at the Charleston (S.C.) Medical College and commenced practice in Traphill, Wilkes County, N.C., in 1859; also engaged in agricultural pursuits; served during the latter part of the Civil War as surgeon of the Wilkes County Home Guards
