InfoRepresentative Perry Hooper was elected in 1983. He was born on October 5, 1954, received his B.S. from Auburn University and Auburn University in Montgomery, and his J.D. from the Jones School of Law. His wife, Judy McKissick Hooper, teaches and is the cheerleading sponsor at the Trinity Presbyterian School. He and his wife are the parents of three children: Perry Oliver III, Thomas Clement, and Davis Shaw. The son of Perry Hooper, Sr., Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court, Representative Hooper works as an Insurance Executive for the Palomar Insurance Corporation. Distinguished as the recipient of the prestigious Thomas Jefferson Free Enterprise Award y the American Legislative Exchange Council, Representative Hooper has also been nominated as "Most Outstanding Member of the House Representatives" in 1988 and 1989, "Outstanding Young Man of Alabama" by the Alabama Jacyees in 1987, and has been nominated as the YMCA's Hi-Y Man of the Year. He currently serves as a member of the Legislative Exchange Council, Capitol City Kiwanis Club, Southern Development Council, Montgomery County Republican Committee, the Aerospace and Science Commission, and Energy Council. Additionally, Representative Hooper is a member of the Governors Enterprise Zone Council, has served as a National Elected Delegate to the 1984, 1992, and 1996 Republican National Conventions. At the Republican National Convention, he was elected to serve on the Platform Committee in 1992, and the Rules Committee in 1996. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the Youth Legislature and the Southeast YMCA, and is an active coach for youth athletics.
