Born 7/29/1805 in Philadelphia PA; parents were James and Margaret (Barr) Walker.

Married Rebecca Randall on 6/6/1833; married (2) Mary (Myrtle) Weamer on 4/3/1876.
While living in Ohio, Walker worked as a printer's apprentice and schoolmaster before becoming co-owner of the Western Courier, a newspaper in Ravenna OH.
Became a Presbyterian minister in 1837 and served the Akron OH congregation 1837-1839
Editor of several religious periodicals, including the Watchman of the Valley, printed in Cincinnati, 1840-42 and the Herald of the Prairies, printed in Chicago, 1846-1850.
Minister, Mansfield OH Congregational Church, 1842-46 and 1850-57 and the Sandusky Congregational Church 1857-63
Held several academic posts, including Chicago Theological Seminary 1859-65, Benzonia College (MD), and Wheaton (IL) College 1870-87
US Army, Civil War, 1863-65
MI State Senate 1865
Candidate for US President on the American National Party ticket, 1876.
Died in Wheaton IL on 3/6/1887.
