Attorney, California Supreme Court Judge. An 1892 graduate of the State Normal School, Langdon initially began as a teacher and rose to serve as a school principal in several different cities throughout the state. From 1902 until 1905 he served as Superintendent of Schools in San Francisco. Also a practicing attorney, he was elected District Attorney of San Francisco in 1905 and served as such until 1909. Quickly gaining the reputation as a reformer, in 1907 he came to prominence when he led the prosecution team during the San Francisco Graft Trials that successfully prosecuted former Mayor Eugene Schmitz and political boss Abraham Ruef for corruption. After spending several years in the banking industry, he was elected an Associate Justice of the California Supreme Court serving from 1926 until his death in 1939.
