InfoMESKILL, Thomas Joseph, a Representative from Connecticut; born in New Britain, Hartford County, Conn., January 30, 1928; attended the local schools and Saint Thomas Seminary in Bloomfield, Conn.; graduated from New Britain Senior High School, 1946; Trinity College, Hartford, Conn., B.S., 1950; enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1950 and served until discharged in 1953 with rank of first lieutenant; University of Connecticut Law School, LL.B., 1956; also studied at New York University School of Law in 1955; admitted to the bar and commenced practice in New Britain, Conn., in 1956; assistant corporation counsel, New Britain, 1960-1962; mayor of New Britain, Conn., 1962-1964; corporation counsel of New Britain, Conn., 1965-1966; member of the constitutional convention in Hartford, Conn., 1965; elected as a Republican to the Ninetieth and to the Ninety-first Congresses (January 3, 1967-January 3, 1971); was not a candidate for reelection in 1970 to the Ninety-second Congress, but was elected Governor of the State of Connecticut in 1970 for the four-year term commencing January 6, 1971; appointed United States circuit judge for the Second Circuit April 22, 1975; died on October 29, 2007, in Delray Beach, Fla.
