Info | Congressman Dan Lipinski is a native of the Third District and credits his family's belief in the power of learning for sending him into a career as an educator. The Congressman taught college students about our American democracy before his election to the House of Representatives in 2004.
Dan Lipinski believes that a member of Congress should not go to Washington just to seek media attention, or to be a rubber stamp for the agenda of others, but to serve his constituents, and respond to their needs.
As a Member of Congress, his priorities include:
Protecting American jobs
Improving healthcare affordability
Expanding educational opportunities
Defending Social Security and Medicare
Guarding our families' safety and security
Securing federal funding for local projects
As a college professor, Congressman Lipinski taught and wrote extensively about the inner workings of Congress. In addition, he worked on the staffs of several leading Members of Congress, including former Minority Leader Richard Gephardt.
Rep. Lipinski and his wife, Judy, an actuary, live in Western Springs.
