Info | James Topham Brady was educated solely by his father, lawyer Thomas S. Brady. Throughout his career as a lawyer, he gained prominence by taking difficult cases involving medical jurisdiction, moral insanity, and divorces (he was Mrs. Edwin Forrest’s divorce lawyer). He is most remembered, however for acting as the defense in criminal cases; he once successfully defended 4 murderers in one week. Though a natural political leader, Brady never took office because he felt that none of them allowed him to continue his work as a lawyer. James Brady never married and frequently wrote articles for Knickerbocker Magazine.
