Info | HENLEY, Barclay, (son of Thomas Jefferson Henley), a Representative from California; born in Charlestown, Clark County, Ind., March 17, 1843; moved with his parents to San Francisco, Calif., in 1853; returned to Indiana in 1858; attended the common schools and Hanover (Ind.) College; returned to San Francisco in 1861; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1864 and commenced practice in Santa Rosa, Calif.; member of the State assembly in 1869 and 1870; district attorney of Sonoma County in 1875 and 1876; elected as a Democrat to the Forty-eighth and Forty-ninth Congresses (March 4, 1883-March 3, 1887); again settled in San Francisco and continued the practice of law until his death in that city on February 15, 1914; remains were cremated and the ashes interred in the Santa Rosa Cemetery, Santa Rosa, Calif.
