Info | Brown was a minister of an African American congregation in Maxton NC.
He attended the Progressive Party state convention in NC in 1948. At the point where he was nominated for the US Senate, he had stepped off the convention floor and missed his chance to give a speech as the first black candidate for the US Senate in NC history.
