InfoLee McKenzie, of Riverton, Utah, has announced his candidacy for Utah Senate District 5. Lee made his first run for office in 1998, standing for election to District 52 of the Utah House of Representatives. He won 1078 votes, 12% of the total. He had only one opponent, a Republican incumbent.

Lee was recruited into the Prohibition Party in 1995 by Pennsylvania state chairman George Ormsby. He had a prior interest in temperance history and had been impressed by the sincerity of people associated with the Prohibition Party. He spoke on temperance history at the 1995 Party convention in Denver, attended the 1997 Party conference in Indianapolis, then made the decision to run for office.

Lee is a family man. He and his wife, Pam are the parents of seven children, ages 12 to 28. He is an active Mormon layman, serving as a Sunday School teacher and as a member of the troop committee for the boy scout troop sponsored by his church. He also does school programs and poster contests on temperance.

He was born in 1948, graduated from the Elyria, Ohio public schools, received a BA from Muskingum College in 1970, and a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Illinois/Urbana in 1974. He is currently employed as a research scientist.

Lee is a member of the American Chemical Society and an honorary member of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU).
