Info | A lifelong resident of Bergen County, Bob has been in service to the public for more than twenty-five years. Just 44 and the father of two, he has been a driving force as a Councilman in Washington Township since 1991, holding the posts of vice-president three times and president twice. At the same time, he created API Distributors, building a local company to support international relief efforts.
It is this business savvy that Robert Schroeder brings to government. Relying on management strategies developed as a corporate executive, Mr. Schroeder has forged creative solutions for some of the more important issues facing his constituency. As a result of his leadership, Washington Township now has taxes that are stable, recreational facilities built completely from local contributions and volunteer manpower, and even its own Post Office and zip code. It may not be the way a typical politician works, but Robert Schroeder is not a professional politician.
Bob has had an interest in the governorship of New Jersey ever since grammar school, when he wrote a report on his favorite state. He has maintained close ties with New Jersey republicans, supporting campaigns, doing volunteer work and lobbying for the rights and privileges of New Jerseyans. Through his public work as Fire Chief, Councilman and even Town Council President, he has developed a knack for listening to his voters rather than talking at them, garnering the respect of his colleagues regardless of party affiliation.
A 1978 graduate of Westwood High School, and a 1982 graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University, Robert Schroeder has been married to his childhood sweetheart for more than thirteen years. He is a parishioner of the ArchDiocese of Newark and Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church.
