I grew up in Northwest Iowa and have lived within the current 2nd district since 1981. During the course of those 23 years I have been a:
Neighborhood and community organizer, youth coach and advocate for progressive change through inclusive, grassroots decision-making;
Teacher at the K-12 level in Iowa City and Clear Creek-Amana (Tiffin) in German, English and English Language Learning;
College instructor at the University of Iowa, Coe College in Cedar Rapids and Kirkwood Community College in German and Religion;
Chaplain at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iowa City and minister in Cedar and Jefferson counties;
Elected official on the Iowa City Community School District school board.
