| Info | State Representative Livvy R. Floren?s background and experience make her especially well qualified to represent Greenwich and Stamford in the Connecticut General Assembly.
She is a member of the General Assembly?s Appropriations, and Government Administration and Elections Committees. She also serves on the Select Committee on Aging.
She serves with a variety of community organizations and has been active in local government and politics for many years. She understands the special needs and challenges facing the 149th District and is committed to deal with them.
Representative Floren is a former member of the Greenwich Board of Estimate and Taxation. She also served two terms as a member of the Greenwich Representative Town Meeting. She is a member and former treasurer of the Greenwich Republican Town Committee. She also served on the finance committee for Governor Rowland?s re-election campaign and as former State Representative Janet K. Lockton?s campaign manager.
Representative Floren serves with several community organizations, including: the Adopt-A-Dog capital campaign committee; the Air Conservation Trust Board of Trustees; the Audubon Society?s capital campaign committee; co-chair of the Boys and Girls State Commission; the Distinguished Teachers Award Committee; chair of Greenwich Country Day School?s 75th Celebration; and the YMCA?s capital campaign steering committee.
She formerly served as a trustee for Community Answers; a trustee for the Garden Education Center; a trustee for the Greenwich Community Fund; Board President for The Greenwich Country Day School; President of the Greenwich High School PTA; a Greenwich Library trustee; treasurer for the Hortulus Garden Club; a Round Hill Community Church trustee; Round Hill Nursery School?s Board President and as a member of the YWCA?s nominating committee.
Representative Floren was employed as a public relations manager for Reddy Communications Inc. from 1964 to 1986. She has been a substitute teacher for grades 4 through 6 at The Greenwich Country Day School since 1986.
Representative Floren graduated from Vassar College with an AB in economics; from Adelphi University with an MBA in finance; and completed all course work for an MAT from Manhattanville College.
A Greenwich resident for 29 years, she has been married to Doug Floren for 34 years. The Florens have four children: Jenny, Missy, David and Clay.
