| Info | I’m an educator who has spent my life in public service.
After earning three degrees – a BS from the University of New Haven, an MS from the University of Florida, and a Ph.D. from Virginia Tech – I accepted a faculty position at Clemson University. During my thirty two-year career, I have provided outreach education, conducted research, and taught a variety of classes.
When I’m not teaching, I serve as a guardian ad litem, serving as a court appointed representative for children in my community who have been abused or neglected. My hobbies include playing on a pool league, woodworking, DIY household projects, and traveling.
I have the most amazing wife, Teresa, who is the After School Director for Clemson Elementary, where she provides afterschool care for over 300 students. We’ve been married for over thirty-six years. Our two children followed in the footsteps of their parents, grandparents, and great grandparents by becoming civil servants. We’re incredibly proud of them.
As a family, we have traveled across the United States on camping trips three times. More recently, Teresa and I took a motorcycle road trip to San Diego and back! I have seen the U.S. up close, and I understand what our country is all about. I am living the American Dream.
MY CANDIDACY
I’m a concerned citizen who is willing to take action.
The current two-party system is the problem.
Our current political system is crippled by gridlock. As I listened to the current presidential candidates spout polarized viewpoints, I realized that I couldn’t vote for any of them with a clear conscience. With no independent candidates or third parties successfully bridging the gap between the two parties, I realized that there was only one option. Instead of hoping and wishing for change, I had to take action and create the change.
Finding a common ground is the solution.
The only way to move forward is to move together. Compromises must be made in order to serve the public good. As I continue my life in public service, I cannot imagine a greater way to contribute to the common good than by moving our country to a position of cooperation and common ground.
