Infoborn in Terre Haute, Vigo County, Ind., August 10, 1896; attended the public schools of Omaha, Nebr., the Sidwell Friends School, Washington, D.C., and the College of Agriculture at the University of Nebraska in 1919 and 1920; during the First World War served in the United States Army as a private in the Signal Enlisted Air Corps; was admitted to the Indiana bar in 1925 and practiced in Indianapolis 1925-1936; member of the Indiana house of representatives 1927-1929; was admitted to the Wyoming bar in 1937 and practiced in Sheridan, Wyo.; member of the Wyoming house of representatives 1945-1950; secretary to the Wyoming Interim Committee 1947-1950; elected as a Republican to the Eighty-second and Eighty-third Congresses (January 3, 1951-January 3, 1955); was not a candidate for renomination in 1954, but was an unsuccessful candidate for election to the United States Senate; regional administrator, Housing and Home Finance Agency, from April 1955 to August 31, 1956; liaison officer, Housing and Home Finance Agency, Washington, D.C., from April 1, 1957, to November 15, 1958; elected to the Eighty-seventh and the Eighty-eighth Congresses (January 3, 1961-January 3, 1965); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1964 to the Eighty-ninth Congress; elected to the Ninetieth Congress (January 3, 1967-January 3, 1969); unsuccessful candidate for renomination in 1968 to the Ninety-first Congress; appointed by President Nixon as a member to the Renegotiation Board of the United States, July 23, 1969, and served until October 4, 1971; was a resident of North Redington Beach, Fla., until his death in St. Petersburg, Fla., on October 8, 1990.
