| Info | Jordan Thoms was born and raised in Rock Island, Illinois. Growing up in Rock Island’s Watch Hill neighborhood, Jordan and his family embraced their many generations long heritage in the Quad Cities. Jordan’s parents taught their children important lessons about family, community, and hard work. Jordan was raised to believe in the opportunities that waited for hard-working people who dream of success in Illinois.
Jordan attended Rock Island High School. As a student-athlete he learned to be a team player on the Rocky Basketball Team. After high school he continued his education locally at Augustana College.
After college Jordan started his career at Mel Foster Company where he learned the basic mechanics of the real estate industry. As an associate there, he learned just how important interconnected communities are for economic prosperity and growth. He quickly learned how governmental officials, community leaders, and the public and private sectors have to work together to ensure economic stability.
With a new opportunity to build a career and provide for his growing family Jordan decided to pursue a career that utilized the skills he learned growing-up in a family-owned food service business, the Thoms-Proestler Company (TPC).
Jordan continued to work in the food service industry for nearly a decade before accepting a new challenge early in 2015. Currently, Jordan serves as the marketing and event coordinator for the growing Fyre Lake Golf Course community.
Jordan sees the potential and possibility that exists in Rock Island County. He is passionate about the need to be competitive and cooperative with all the communities in the Quad Cities region, and his call to run for office comes from seeing how badly Illinois lags behind Iowa in terms of economic growth and opportunity.
Jordan wants to go to Springfield to make the point that enough is enough and it is time to fix the systemic problems that hold our state back. He is committed to bringing the voice of a new generation to the General Assembly, and to working with legislators, city officials, community leaders, and public and private sector visionaries who together will stabilize the Illinois economy and put people back to work in good paying jobs.
The Thoms family has lived in Rock Island for 4 generations and has deep roots in the Quad City Area and Southern Rock Island County. Jordan and his family have made it a priority to improve the community around them. Jordan is just the next generation that wants to better the community and bring job growth back to the area.
Jordan is married to Amy (Gruenhagen) Thoms. They live with their children Madison, Zachary, William, and Matthew in Rock Island.
