| Info | Charles Falciglia was born in the Bronx, New York, where he attended St. Raymond’s Elementary School and St. Raymond’s High School. He moved with his family to Suffern in 1972. His father, who passed away from COVID in April of 2020, owned the well known Pelham Dry Cleaners in the Borough. He graduated Suffern High School in 1974, Rockland Community College in 1976 with an AAS Degree in Business and Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1978 with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting.
Charles enjoyed a 41 year career in the banking industry, serving in multiple managerial roles with the last 15 years dedicated as a Bank Secrecy Act Officer (BSA) for several institutions, which included a 5 year stint with an international Chinese bank.
As a BSA Officer he was responsible for compliance and investigations with money laundering and economic crime laws. He is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist and an award winning economic crime writer having written 30 articles on the subject for the world’s leading economic crime magazine, ACAMS Today. He was the magazine’s 2008 Article of the Year recipient.
He was elected to Rockland County Legislature in 2015 and re-elected in 2019. His district includes the Villages of Suffern, Airmont and Hillburn plus portions of unincorporated Ramapo. He was previously elected as a Trustee in 2011 in the Village of Suffern and narrowly lost a four-way race for Mayor of Suffern in 2013.
As a Legislator he has written over 25 articles for local social media outlets on corruption and bad behavior in Rockland County Government, predominantly in Ramapo. He has been instrumental in correcting the deficiencies of the previously mismanaged Rockland County Sewer District One, which included exposing the soil debacle in Western Ramapo leading to the recovery of $400,000.00 for the sewer district. He is also very active in assisting CUPON (Citizens United to Protect our Neighborhoods).
He resides in Suffern, New York with his wife of 39 years, Rita, who was born and raised in Nyack, New York.
