InfoBrandi McGuire was born and raised in the Illinois Quad Cities, graduated from Sherrard High School in 1992, and attended Black Hawk College. Brandi and her husband Colin have been married for 20 years and have four children. After being a stay at home mother, Brandi began her professional career working as a Certified Illinois Driver Training Instructor at her family-owned small business in 2011. Brandi has been an active volunteer in Junior Achievement and her children's schools.
In response to a life-threatening illness to her youngest child Kellsey, Brandi decided to begin her mission as an advocate for children and adults with epilepsy and formed the non-profit, Ribbons For Kellsey, a 501(c)3 in 2010.
In 2014, Brandi's daughter Kellsey received her life-saving service dog-Jasper. A few months later, the public school her daughter Kellsey was attending, denied access to her and her service dog Jasper. The McGuire family decided to take a stand and protect the civil rights of their daughter's and others with disabilities within the judicial system. In December 2014 a court ruled in favor of Kellsey's civil rights and equal access to an education.
Brandi continues to advocate for children with disabilities working with her State Senator to write legislation to prevent the denial of civil rights and education of other children in Illinois and continuing the work of Ribbons For Kellsey. Brandi is a recipient of the Advocate of the Year Award from the Illinois and Iowa Center for Independent Living.
