| Info | He was employed with Dade Behring (formerly DuPont Diagnostics) for 13 years as a field engineer, a position responsible for managing a biomedical service territory in western Pennsylvania. He had worked in the business sector since 1984, where he began his career as an electronics technician.
In his position as a field engineer, Metcalfe dealt extensively with customer satisfaction by resolving complaints, expediting service and troubleshooting problems. This experience in the business sector has made him sensitive to the needs of businesses and constituents in terms of providing good service, keeping taxes low and trimming the size of bureaucracy.
A graduate of Charles W. Baker High School in Baldwinsville, New York, Metcalfe attended Kansas State University while serving in the U.S. Army at Fort Riley, Kansas.
He was later stationed in Germany where he met his wife, Elke. His experience in the Army included duty as an air defense radar and I.F.F. (identification friend or foe) systems repair specialist.
