Mike Wendt was born and raised in Moline, and is now raising his children in the same home that he as well as his father were raised in the Third Ward. He was elected to the Council in April of 2015 and his current term will expire May 1, 2019.
Supports
Alderman Wendt believes in fiscal responsibility and making Moline attractive to business while providing high quality services to its residents. He wants to increase communication between the Moline City Council and the Moline School Board and help to improve overall communication with the public.
Involvement
Alderman Wendt is active in the community serving on the board of the Moline Rotary, Moline Soccer Club, as well as coaching kids in both soccer and basketball. Alderman Wendt previously served on the Moline Plan Commission, the Moline Revolving Loan Fund Board, and the Quad Cities Area Realtor’s Association Board.
Education & Employment
Alderman Wendt is a graduate Moline High School and has Bachelor Degrees in Political Science, Philosophy and Public Administration from Drake University. He also earned a Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning as well as his M.B.A. from the University of Iowa. In 2005 Alderman Wendt received his Law Degree from the University of Illinois, and was accepted as a member of the Bar in both Illinois and Iowa. Currently he is in-house council and manager broker for Ruhl&Ruhl REALTORS in Moline.
Family & Free Time
Alderman Wendt spends most of his free time with his wife Eileen and their three children, Kendall, Carson and Jack. When he does have some free time, he enjoys doing yard work, working on a tree house for the kids and traveling when possible.
