Practicing attorney in Birmingham 1973 through 1988.
Elected as Probate Judge of Jefferson County in 1988, 1994, and 2000, and has served 15 years in that position.
Active in Alabama Probate Judges Association; served as chairman of various association committees, including Education and Adoption Committees.
Elected by peers as President, Secretary, and Treasurer of Probate Judges Association.
Has served on the Children�s Code Committee, Probate Procedures Committee, Adoption Committee, and Paternity Committee of the Alabama Law Institute, to help re-write the laws in Alabama.
Authored the Putative Father Registry law in Alabama, to protect the rights of all parties in adoption proceedings.
Received national award from �Angels of Adoption� organization in Washington D.C. in 2000 for his service to adoptive families.
Has worked as Chief Election Official in Jefferson County for 15 years.
Served as Chairman of the Alabama Electronic Voting Committee.
Served as commissioner on Governor�s Commission on Consolidation, Efficiency, and Funding.

Elected President and Vice-President of the Mid-Alabama Republican Club, and is currently a member and officer.
Elected to the Jefferson County Republican Executive Committee and Steering Committee, and elected in 2003 as County Party Chairman.
