Info | Blake A. Filippi (R) was chosen by the House Republican Caucus as the Minority Leader in November 2018. He previously served for two years as the Minority Whip, the second ranking member of the caucus. First elected in November 2014, he represents House District 36, which includes all of Block Island and Charlestown, and portions of Westerly and South Kingstown. He is an ex-officio member of all House committees and also serves on the Permanent Joint Committee on State Lottery.
An attorney and organic cattle farmer, Representative Filippi is a member of the Rhode Island Farm Bureau and the Rhode Island Bar Association.
A 1999 graduate of Lincoln High School, he received his Bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Arizona in 2003 and obtained his Juris Doctorate degree in 2007 from the Rutgers University Camden School of Law.
