InfoAaron was born in Lincoln and grew up in New Holland Illinois. He attended New Holland Middletown Middle School and Excelsior Springs Technical High School. His Father and Step Mother, Francis and Kathi Merreighn, both State employees, encouraged him to take part in sports. The middle of six children, he played baseball, basketball and football.
After having graduated at the age of 17 Aaron enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. In eight years of service, having graduated from many demanding courses and multiple leadership schools between tours of duty overseas, including three combat tours in Iraq, he received orders back to Camp Lejeune serving as a Military Police Officer and Patrol Supervisor. At the end of his second enlistment Aaron received an Honorable Discharge from the Marine Corps December 21, 2007.
Since leaving the Corps he has been working to educate Veterans on their rights and the opportunities available to them. Seeing the disparity of the people of Illinois and the grossincompetence of the state's leadership he felt the need to do more. He joined the Illinois VeteransParty of America. His leadership qualities and ability to create and lead a team at any level was recognized by the National Chairman of the Party, leading to his appointment as State Chairman ofthe Illinois Veterans Party of America. Aaron has built a strong team of leaders which has allowed the Veterans Party of America in Illinois to become one of the fastest growing chapters in the country.
Having an unwavering desire to serve the people of Illinois in any capacity, when Ryan Sweeney asked him to be his running mate as Lt. Governor, believing this would be a perfect opportunity to put to good use his hard learned lessons in leadership and management, he gladly accepted the challenge and is looking forward to making our state a more prosperous and better place to live and work. It is his wish to continue serving the people.
Aaron is a family man, married to "my best friend and wonderful wife Jamie," and blessed with six children, two boys, Zach and Dallas, and four beautiful daughters, Sydney, Jazmyn, Jessha, and Jyness
