| Info | Sandy was raised by his mother, a school teacher in Lousiville, KY. He achieved the Eagle Scout rank, and was a BSA camp counselor where he won the Junior NRA Expert Rifleman award. He worked for less than minimum wage from age 12 through high school to save money for college.
Earned scholarships to engineering & business schools.
Combining scholarships, national defense loans and internships, Sandy earned a chemical engineering degree cum laude from Vanderbilt University and MBA with honors from Washington University in St. Louis. His executive education includes the international business school INSEAD in France, and the Society of International Business Fellows program in China.
Served as an officer in the US Army during Vietnam.
Sandy joined the Army during the Vietnam era, entering the Officer Candidate program, where he was elected class president. As a Lieutenant he served from early1967 to late1969 in the Pentagon as a Weapons Systems Analyst including duty in Germany & Korea.
Worked as an executive & consultant in the information technology industry.
For over three decades, he has lived in Washington D.C., New York City, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Boston while working for a several small and large technology companies. Business results include installing and operating global information systems for healthcare, financial services and manufacturing companies. He has worked as an executive and consultant, served on boards as a director, and published numerous articles.
Lived for the past nine years in Marietta, Georgia.
Sandy and his family moved to Marietta in 1993 to take a position with an international banking technology firm. His wife has continued her 27-year career with a Fortune 50 computer company, and their two children graduated from Westminster School and Georgia Tech.
