InfoAnn Murguia proudly serves as the current 3rd District Commissioner for the Unified Board of Government in Kansas City, Kansas / Wyandotte County. Since elected in 2007, Ann has worked to increase jobs, stop tax increases, and bring economic development to our communities. As Commissioner, Ann spearheaded the 39th and Rainbow project and is bringing a new grocery store to the 3rd District. She also advocated for the construction of a new branch of the Kansas City Library by providing tours and meeting with investors who generously donated the nearly $2 million dollars that funded the new building’s completion. Ann collaborated with public and private donors to secure over one million dollars of new streets, curbs, and sidewalks in the third district.

In addition to her role as Commissioner, Ann is also the Executive Director of the Argentine Neighborhood Development Association (ANDA). Under her leadership, ANDA has created a new model for neighborhood community development. ANDA was responsible for millions of dollars in donations returned to the community by investing them in the development of neighborhood infrastructure and quality housing, specifically by funding new construction, rehabilitating existing homes, coordinating blight removal, and completing major curb and sidewalk repairs.

Ann is committed to civic involvement, both personally and professionally. Before becoming Executive Director of ANDA, she worked as the Director of Development and the Chief Operating Officer of Community Housing of Wyandotte County. She now co-chairs the Frontiers Project at the Kansas University Medical Center and serves as a member of both the Argentine Activities Association and the Board of Trustees at the University of Missouri–Kansas City. She has previously served on the Wyandotte County Parks Foundation Board. Ann graduated from the Leadership Kansas Program sponsored by the Kansas State Chamber of Commerce in 2011. That same year, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Greater Kansas City named Ann their Humanitarian of the Year for her contributions to the Hispanic and Latino community.

Ann and her husband, Carlos, live with their three children – Wyatt, Thomas, and Isabella – in the Argentine District of Kansas City, Kansas.

Ann has worked tirelessly to provide needed government services to her district in order to ensure a safe and vibrant neighborhood system in the 3rd district.
