Info | Mitch O'Farrell moved to Los Angeles from the Oklahoma City area 30 years ago, to continue his studies and work professionally in theatre and dance. After a career in the arts, he honed his customer service, leadership, and business skills as a restaurant manager and manager trainer. Active in the community of Glassell Park over the last 19 years, he began a career in public service in 2002, working in the 13th city council district on behalf of Eric Garcetti, and served there until 2012.
Mitch has served as the Glassell Park Improvement Association president, and co-founded the Glassell Park Neighborhood Council, which became the 3rd certified neighborhood council in the city in 2002. His accomplishments there include the creation of the Glassell Park community and senior center, the Glassell Park community garden, and the soon to be, Glassell Park Farmers Market.
Mitch has served on the Board of the Santa Cecilia Orchestra for six years, a non-profit organization that provides after school, classical music training to children in the Los Angeles unified school district.
Mitch has previously served on the board of the California Wilderness Coalition, and was president of the Northeast Democratic club in 2005. In addition to volunteering for his neighborhood, he spent years volunteering for Project Angel Food, delivering meals to home bound clients, and taking care of exotic animals at the wildlife way station in Simi Valley.
Mitch is a member of the Wyandotte Native American Tribe. His grandfather served as Wyandotte Chief on two occasions. Mitch lives with his life partner of 20 years, George, and their cocker spaniel, Arthur.
