Info | State Representative Craig A. Miner, was re-elected in November 2002 to his second term serving the people of the 66th District. The district is comprised of Bethlehem, Litchfield, Morris, Warren and Woodbury. He serves as Ranking Member (Republican Leader) on the General Assembly?s Planning and Development Committee. He also serves as a member of the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee, and Insurance and Real Estate Committee.
Prior to his election to the legislature, Miner was first elected as First Selectman of the Town of Litchfield in 1991. He was re-elected four times, the latest in 1999. He resigned from the office in February 2001 to assume his legislative duties. His administration successfully promoted open government and maintained a stable tax base throughout the 1990s. It also strongly advocated maintaining the Litchfield County Courthouse in the Town of Litchfield. Voters affirmed the administration?s position in a town-wide referendum in 1999.
Representative Miner?s extensive public service background also includes serving on the state?s Sheff vs. O?Neill panel, E911 Commission, and as chairman of the Litchfield Hills Council of Elected Officials. Since 1977, he has held sales and management positions in several local automotive dealerships. He also owned and operated the Litchfield Filling Station from 1989 to 1998. He and his wife, Marlene, have been married since age 20 and have three children; Katie, a senior at Litchfield High School; Heather, a senior at Springfield College and Justin, a senior at The Culinary Institute of America.
