| Info | Lt Col Gregory T. Parke was born 29 Jan 1954 in Boston MA, to parents residing in Chester VT. His father, Franklin Black, a WWII Marine Corps veteran, was a high school teacher and principal (Proctorsville, Enosburg Falls and Fair Haven ). Greg attended schools in Enosburg Falls and Fair Haven, and has also resided in Chester, Killington and Rutland, Vermont. He graduated from Sanborn Regional High School, Kingston, NH in 1972. For ten years prior to entering the military Greg was a volunteer with the Otter Ski Patrol (Killington/Pico).
Greg graduated with a Bachelor of Science Cum Laude from the University of New Hampshire�s Whittemore School of Business and Economics. An ROTC Distinguished Graduate, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force on 29 May 1977. He entered active duty in March of 1978, attended Undergraduate Pilot Training at Columbus AFB, MS, and earned his pilot�s wings in April 1979.
After pilot training, Lt. Parke started his operational career at Tyndall AFB, FL, earning Tactical Air Command�s Instructor Pilot of the Year for his work in the Interceptor Lead-in School. He then went on to Griffiss AFB, NY as an air defense pilot in the F-106 Delta Dart. After two years he was selected for duty as an advisor to the Royal Saudi Air Force in Taif, Saudi Arabia, where he spent two years instructing Saudi pilots in the employment of the F-5 Tiger-II. Captain Parke was then assigned to America�s front line fighter, the F-16 Fighting Falcon, and stationed at Torrejon AB, Spain for 3 years as a NATO nuclear strike pilot. Maj Parke ended his tour there as Wing Chief of Training.
Just before the Gulf War broke out, Major Parke was reassigned to the Office of the Secretary of the Air Force, International Affairs. As a Country Director he dealt with military issues relating to Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
He concluded his Pentagon tour as the Executive Officer for the Deputy Under Secretary for International Affairs. He was then promoted to Lt. Colonel and assigned to An Shas Air Base, Cairo, Egypt, where he commanded an advisory group assisting the Egyptian Air Force in the training and development of an Egyptian F-16 Fighter Wing. Upon completion of his two years in Egypt, Lt. Col. Parke was assigned to Luke AFB, AZ as Assistant to the Director of the Goldwater Gunnery Range. There he was instrumental in development of the Environmental Impact Statement which secured the military�s continued use of the Goldwater Range, a critical national resource, for an additional 25 years. Lt. Col. Parke retired from Luke AFB on 1 Jan 2000 and moved his family back to Rutland, Vermont to be close to his parents and afford his children the opportunity to finish growing up in Vermont.
Lt. Col. Parke is a Command Pilot with over 4500 hours flight time, including over 1000 hrs in the F-16 Fighting Falcon. His wife Sharon of 30 years works for a non-profit organization and they have two children, Taryn (19) a freshman at Castleton State College, and Alexander (15) in Rutland High School.
He is currently employed as a charter pilot for Air Castle Corp., flying executive business jets for Fortune 500 executives and celebrities around the world. His hobbies include skiing, sailing, karate and history.
Lt. Col. Parke is a member of the Rutland Regional Chamber of Commerce (Public Policy Committee); the Air Force Association (Life Member); Veterans of Foreign Wars (Life Member); and American Legion.
